New Year, New You!

SOME

Steps Toward a New You!

By Harry Petsanis and Donna McCance

S

SIMPLIFY

Declutter your thoughts, actions, and environment. Streamline. Purge what is not needed and what does not serve you. That includes negative feelings, people, behaviors, and items you are holding onto that are no longer useful. A decluttered space helps you to think more clearly and be more productive.

O

OBSERVE

Step back. Step outside of yourself and see what is going on around you. Watch and listen to what people say, how they act, and how they react. Pause your thinking and stop yourself from reacting and judging. Just observe. Stop yourself from reading into things and overthinking. It may be helpful for you to write down your observations in a journal. At the end of the day, go back and reflect on your observations.

M

MAXIMIZE

Make the best use of every second of your day. When you are productive, you get results. Rather than looking at the whole picture, which can overwhelm you from taking action, start off in chunks. Time yourself to tackle parts of the project, and before you know it, you have worked toward completing the whole task. Set your goals, set your time frame, and don't stop until you are done. That process produces results.

E

EARN

Work hard to be resourceful so you can earn what it is you need. Pursue every option and every opportunity to achieve your goals. Even if you don’t have the tangible resources, you need to work hard at finding ways to attain them through ingenuity and drive. There are no money trees and cash doesn’t fall from the sky onto your lap. Instead of complaining about not having the things you wish you could have, get to work so you can earn what you want.

Happy New Year! Happy New You!
